I've said it before, but it bears repeating: the blue doesn't look so bad when there's a lot more black on the surrounding hull. The blue still stinks, but I think any light color on that highlight is a mistake. Also, simply changing the blue to something else doesn't really solve the problem of too little variety in the look of the ships' hull colors.
The thing that bothers me about this little Gallente color issue isn't so much the poor choice for the universal highlight color, but rather that more work wasn't put into making the ships more unique. I'm guessing it took less time to do them the way they are. Considering this patch is largely considered a graphics upgrade, despite all the other work that went into it, it's a shame the Gallente ships didn't come out looking a bit more menacing.

This color is not blue, its turqouise.. if you actually undock/change systems, you'll notice the color looks almost EXACTLY like the old green gallente lights. It is a very dark teal color. The "bluest" of the ships seen in the hangers is the thanatos. LOOK at the thanatos with non-omni lighting outside of a station...

Yeah, that almost looks green, except it's in the shadows, and you're in a rather yellow-lit system. Yellow + blue = green. So, Gallente pilots must fly in those yellow light systems if they want green ships. If you want pink ships, fly in the red light systems.
Amarr and Caldari ships look pretty good to me in any light. I haven't seen the Minmatar ships in space, so I can't comment. However, the art department dropped the ball on the Gallente ships, and it should be addressed in some way.
Ideally, we'd all have the ability to customize our ship colors, but barring that, the Gallente scheme really needs to be improved. Then again, maybe CCP just wants even more Caldari ships out there.

Hmmmm, I am looking at a Gallente shuttle now, and it looks more yellow than orange to my eyes, but whatever you want to call it, it's not blue OR clownfish orange and white. Let's hope they're playing with some of the other ships as well.

It occurs to me that the only color of the rainbow never yet represented on a Gallente ship is purple. Maybe that should be the new color: Tinkie Winkie purple. They can mount a purse to a high slot to complete the look.
